National Athletic Training Month

We’ve all been on the receiving end of a missed ball and a kick to the shin, a rolled ankle, broken bones, torn ligaments, and anything in between.

Regardless of what we have experienced, player safety is a top priority for NCFC Youth. Whether injury, prevention, recovery, or rehabilitation, our full-time head athletic trainer and support staff are put in place to keep our players safe and in the game. Head Athletic Trainer, Jason Bailey, is certified in Athletic Training, Strength and Conditioning, Performance Enhancement, and Corrective Exercise. He is supported by three certified Athletic Trainers (ACT) from Wake Orthopaedics who dedicate their entire work-week and weekends to NCFC Youth, and an ATC from Pivot PT who provides supplemental coverage in our service area.

As we head into our third weekend of Spring games, and in conjunction with Athletic Training Month, what better time than now to highlight the Athletic Training services available to all NCFC Youth players included as part of club fees.

Our Athletic Training services are open to players at every level free of charge. Trainers are available to players at WRAL Soccer Park, Thomas Brooks, and Wake Competition Center during typical training sessions during the week and on mornings/afternoons on game weekends. If you don’t train at one of those locations, you can reach out to Jason Bailey via email to schedule a time to be seen.

Meet NCFC Youth Head Athletic Trainer, Jason Bailey

Jason has served as NCFC Youth’s Head Athletic Trainer since August 2010.

Jason is originally from the Chicago area and has been in Cary, NC since 1986. He is a graduate of Cary High School and has his Bachelor’s degree from East Carolina University in Exercise and Sport Science. Jason received his Master’s degree from University of North Carolina at Greensboro in Exercise and Sport Science with a concentration in Athletic Training.

Jason spent 4 years as the Assistant Athletic Trainer for the Carolina Hurricanes as well as 1 season with Carolina Railhawks (now North Carolina FC). He is a Certified Athletic Trainer (ATC) with the NATABOC and a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS) with the National Strength and Conditioning Association as well as holds certifications as Performance Enhancement Specialist and Corrective Exercise Specialist from the NASM.

Fun Facts: Jason is a Cubs fan, grew up playing with CASL (NCFC Youth) as a goalkeeper, and drives Mustangs.

“As someone who played with the club since before athletic training was even offered, I’ve experienced firsthand how Jason has completely transformed the athletic training side of things. Throughout the entirety of my playing career, he has been a constant and reliable part of my recovery and rehabilitation, keeping me from being held back by injury. He’s consistent, reliable, and truly remarkable.” Joanna Boyles, former NCFC Youth player.
