Club Updates and Looking Forward

Club Updates

Please continue to check back for continuing developments and updates.

May 14, 2020

We know this has been a trying time for many and as we eagerly await a return to the fields. As we continue to strive to provide positive youth soccer opportunities to our community, we have put in place intentional measures to ensure open accessibility and continued service to our families. We also wanted to share some positive news and updates as we look forward!

2020-2021 Club Fees
We are pleased to announce that there will be no increase in club fees from the 2019-2020 season, and installment plans have been adjusted to better accommodate payment timelines. Our transition to the PlayMetrics registration platform will also give families a more transparent look at payment plans and upcoming payments.

Financial Aid Applications are Open
In addition to our commitment to expand the Financial Aid Program, the refunds graciously donated by many in our membership will allow us to assist more families this fall. We will also now offer two types of Financial Assistance going into the 2020-21 season to help alleviate financial burdens due to the impacts of COVID-19. There are many families whose financial situation has changed dramatically over the last month, and it is our hope that the Financial Aid Program will help those families continue to support their children’s development through soccer. The Financial Aid Application, which is now open, can be found in your PlayMetrics account in the Registrations tab under Registrations > Financial Aid. More information on our Financial Aid Program and how it can benefit your family can be found here.

Intent to Play Registrations are Open
This season, all program registrations and acceptances for competitive level teams will be done in PlayMetrics for (everyone) competitive teams. Transitioning registrations and payments from BlueSombrero, your NCFC Youth.com account, to PlayMetrics will improve your family’s experience and keep all team-specific details, including Financial Aid, Registration, Payment, and Team Schedules all inside one mobile-friendly platform. Coaches Continue to Learn from Home
During time away from the fields, our coaches have continued to invest in education opportunities from several top-level coaches at the National team level, International level, and even coaches in the National Hockey League.

In an effort to stay connected with both our volunteer and full- time coaching staff, we have been fortunate to re-connect with leaders in the field to offer weekly education opportunities to hear from and create discussion within both the Triangle community and soccer community. This has been an invaluable time for our coaches to focus on the fundamentals of the game, look at new ways to approach player development, and hear perspective from professionals with experience in the youth, semi-pro, and professional realm.

Averaging more than 60 coaches per session, coaches have heard from NC Courage Head Coach, Paul Riley and NCFC Head Coach, Dave Sarachan speak specifically to the importance of creating a culture and standard of excellence, with an emphasis on intentional coaching specifically at the youth level.

English FA’s Martin Dighton and Glasgow Rangers FC’s Michael Beale joined us internationally, both speaking on their experience at the elite level and the expectation of player development across European clubs. Beale walked coaches through the fundamental stages of player development and the responsibility of youth coaches to create and fuel a love of the game.

This week, coaches were joined by Carolina Hurricanes Head Coach, Rod Brind’Amour in a unique look into the similarities behind coaching in any sport and the importance of instilling a passion for the game and creating a culture in which players are driven by the standards that they, themselves, expect.

New Fields in Knightdale – Coming Soon!
We are looking forward to the opening of Wake Stone Athletic Park in Knightdale! Expected to open this fall, Phase 1 will include five full-sized grass fields and permanent restrooms. The new fields will offer greater opportunities for our families in eastern Wake County. More updates will come in the following weeks!
