Club Updates and Return-to-Play Protocols

NCFC Youth families,

Like many of you, we have spent the summer adapting and adjusting course based on our state’s reopening, government restrictions, and health guidelines. With Governor Cooper’s latest announcement of a Phase 2 extension, we have updates to share as we prepare to kick off the fall season. Please read this email in its entirety for our latest return-to-play plan and keep an eye out for a follow-up email from your program director with more specifics.

Since the beginning of Phase 2, we have executed tryouts, training, and other programs under our Return-to-Play safety protocols (e.g., social distancing, mask wearing symptom screening, etc.). The eagerness and excitement of our players and families to be back on the fields is reflected in the 6,000+ players across all ages and levels who participated in June training and are currently registered for supplemental training and camps. This experience provided our staff with an environment to create training sessions that comply with guidelines, implement safety protocols across a large service area, and work through our incident management and response procedure. Therefore, we are prepared to welcome all players back in Phase 2, regardless of any decisions related to in-person or virtual schooling.

Please take note of the following updates – more information will be shared from your program director.

-      Recreation: The season will start the week of September 8, and the first game weekend is still set for September 12/13. Kickstarters is on as scheduled to begin on September 12

-      Challenge: Training will now start the week of August 17 with the first games on August 29/30

-      Juniors: Training will start the week of August 10 as scheduled; First games still set for August 30

-      Classic/ECNL/Academy: Training (under Phase 2 protocols) will start the week of August 3 as scheduled; Games pushed to end of August/early September

-      La Liga: The first play date is scheduled for August 23

-      TOPSoccer: The first play date is scheduled for September 12

-      Supplemental Training: Elite Technique is on as scheduled to start August 9, and Skill Building will begin August 26

We are all aware of the impacts of COVID-19 on our lives, and our staff has worked hard to find a way to bring soccer back into your family’s life. Our coaches collaborated over the past few months to redesign quality training sessions that allow your player to continue playing, developing, and learning, and we look forward to rolling these out over the next few weeks.

Thank you for your flexibility this season, and we look forward to seeing you on the field soon.

Gary Buete
CEO
