Nick Jaramillo Hired as Assistant Director of Goalkeeping
Jaramillo brings experience from the youth, collegiate, and professional game

September 16, 2021 – Raleigh, NC NCFC Youth announces the addition of Nick Jaramillo to the Goalkeeping staff as the Assistant Goalkeeping Director. With experience at the youth, collegiate and professional levels, Jaramillo will join Director of Goalkeeping, Wezly Barnard, and Full Time Goalkeeping Staff Coach, Gio Solis, beginning September 20, to support and guide the development of NCFC Youth goalkeepers.

Jaramillo comes to NCFC Youth after two years with South Georgia Tormenta FC where he oversaw and managed the goalkeeper training for the USL1, USL2, and USL Academy teams.  In this capacity, Jaramillo held many roles including Goalkeeper Coach and Assistant Men’s Soccer Coach for Tormenta FC (USL League One), Director of Goalkeeping (USL League Two), and Academy Head Coach and Technical Director with Tormenta FC USL Academy.

"Nick is going to be a valuable addition to the NCFC Youth goalkeeper program and an asset to the NCFC Youth staff. With his work ethic and positive personality, Nick will be able to continue to build the strong culture within the goalkeeping program,” said Wezly Barnard, NCFC Youth Goalkeeping Director. “He brings a lot of experience from various levels of the game including youth, college, and professional. I am looking forward to the impact he will have at NCFC as the Assistant Director of Goalkeeping. I have a great relationship with Nick, and I am excited to work with him to continue to grow and move the program forward."

Before Tormenta FC, Jaramillo’s coaching journey took him to Young Harris College, where he served 3 seasons as the men’s assistant coach (2016, 2017, 2019) and the women’s interim head coach (2017). He has experience in coaching both men and women, as he held another Assistant Coach post for the Barry University women’s team (2018), where he helped lead the team to a 16-1-1 season, conference regular season champions, and conference tournament champions.

In addition to his collegiate coaching experience, Jaramillo’s experience in the United Soccer League (USL) adds depth and experience to NCFC Youth, which has a similar youth-to-pro pathway in place. Jaramillo’s most recent experience with USL Academy, USL1, and USL2 Tormenta FC teams is built on previous USL2 experience. Jaramillo was an Assistant Coach and Goalkeeper Coach with the Des Moines Menace (2019). This professional experience coupled with his collegiate and youth coaching roles will be a great asset to our players.

Nick received his B.S. in Psychology from Young Harris College (2018), and he has his National C License (US Soccer) and Advanced National Diploma (NSCAA). Husband to Laura and father to Landon and Noah Jaramillo.
