Meet Athletic Trainer, Nick Conde!

We’re continuing our staff spotlight series with Nick Conde, Athletic Trainer. In honor of National Athletic Training Month, we’re excited to highlight Nick and show our appreciation for everything he and our athletic training staff do to keep our players healthy, safe, and performing at their best. Get to know Nick as he shares his background in the game and what inspires him to work in youth soccer.
What inspired you to pursue a career in athletic training?
"I saw 2 people driving a gator and it looked cool. When I found out they were in sports medicine club, I found the club and would just be there every day. The rest is history."
How long have you worked in athletic training, and when did you join NCFC Youth?
"I have been an Athletic Trainer since 2019 and I officially joined the club in 2022. I have worked small events for the club since 2019 as well before officially joining."
Did you play sports growing up? If so, what did you play?
"I played a little soccer but I grew up skateboarding mostly."
What’s something you love about athletic training that you didn’t expect?
"Applying a perfect tape job is probably the most satisfying thing that I wouldn't expect."
What’s the most rewarding part of your job?
"The most rewarding part of my job is returning athletes back to the game they love to play."
What’s your biggest piece of advice for athletes when it comes to staying healthy?
"Stretch your quads and hamstrings for at least 30 seconds each and have a source of protein post-activity. Doing both of these actions within 2 hours post-activity will greatly improve your recovery."
What’s your go-to coffee order (or favorite drink)?
"Caramel cold brew with cold foam or a mate tea."
If you weren’t an athletic trainer, what career do you think you’d have?
"Professional sport groundskeeper/operations."
Nick plays a key role on the sidelines in supporting the health and safety of our players. We’re thankful to have him and our entire athletic training staff caring for NCFC Youth every day.
