North Carolina FC Youth is proud to celebrate the continued rise of one of our own, as Finn Sundstrom has signed with Major League Soccer’s Philadelphia Union. The former NCFC Youth and Academy standout joins the Union on a contract through 2028, with club options extending through 2030.

Finn’s journey is a powerful example of the NCFC Youth player pathway in action. He joined the NCFC Academy at just 11 years old and progressed through every age group from U12 to U19. During his time in the Academy, Finn consistently demonstrated strong leadership, defensive intelligence, and a relentless work ethic that set him apart.

After graduating from the Academy, Finn earned a professional opportunity with **North Carolina FC** in the USL Championship. He made his professional debut in September 2024 and went on to play a major role during the 2025 season, appearing in 33 matches across all competitions. His performances anchored the back line, helping NCFC record nine shutouts while leading the team in blocks and ranking near the top in clearances and tackles. Finn’s impact earned him NCFC Player of the Month honors and a nomination for USL Championship Young Player of the Year.

Finn’s development has also been recognized at the national level, earning his first call up to a United States U20 Youth National Team camp. That continued progression ultimately opened the door to MLS, where the Philadelphia Union acquired his rights and welcomed him into their first team environment.

For NCFC Youth, Finn’s success represents the long term vision of the club. His rise from youth soccer to the professional and MLS levels highlights the opportunities available within our system and the dedication of our coaches, staff, and players who help bring that pathway to life.
