NCFC Youth is excited to announce the addition of Daniel Treus to our Goalkeeping Department as an Assistant Director. Treus joins Stephen Palmer, now Director of Goalkeeping, and Giovanni Solis, Assistant Director of Goalkeeping, to round out the full-time goalkeeping staff.

Daniel Treus, Assistant Director of Goalkeeping

Treus comes to NCFC Youth from New York where he spent the past few seasons (2021-2023) with the New York Red Bulls. Treus held multiple roles at the Red Bulls including Youth Programs coach, Operations Assistant, and most recently, Academy Assistant Goalkeeper Coach. Treus brings experience in curriculum development, player analysis and film study, and coaching and talent development that will serve the entire goalkeeping department and its players well.

Treus is a graduate of SUNY Oneonta (B.S., Sports & Business Management). He’s bilingual (fluent in Spanish), and he currently holds his USSF “D” License and USC Goalkeeping Diploma. He is currently working on earning his USSF “C” License.

Treus will work alongside Director of Goalkeeping, Stephen Palmer, and Assistant Director, Giovanni Solis to support the club’s continued development of goalkeepers.

Stephen Palmer, Director of Goalkeeping

Palmer, originally from Birmingham, England, joined NCFC Youth in August 2022 as an Assistant Goalkeeping Director. During his first year with the club, Palmer worked with the NCFC Academy and NC Courage Academy goalkeepers, while also overseeing the progression & development of Classic Goalkeepers. As he transitions to his new role, he’ll be working with Treus and Solis to support the development needs of all goalkeepers at NCFC.

Prior to joining NCFC Youth, Palmer spent nearly 10 years with the New York Red Bulls where he held multiple roles including U23 Goalkeeping Coach, Assistant First Team Goalkeeping Coach, Pre-Academy and Academy Goalkeeping Coach. He brings a wealth of experience in both player and goalkeeper youth to pro Development.

Giovanni Solis, Assistant Director of Goalkeeping
Solis will enter his 5th year with the club in January 2024. He’s been a staple of our goalkeeping department the past 4 years, providing training and development feedback to Classic, ECNL, Academy level goalkeepers as well as the U23 teams. He’s also the primary lead on camps, Clinics, and Supplemental Training opportunities for goalkeepers.

Originally from Clayton, Solis is a product of the club. He was a goalkeeper within the Classic program (U14-U18) before being invited into the NCFC Academy his senior season. He went on to play collegiately at Louisburg College, UNC-Asheville, and Appalachian State.

The Goalkeeping Department is supported throughout the year by more than a dozen part-time goalkeeping coaches who are passionate about supporting the growth and development of all goalkeepers – from the grassroots level up through the Academy.
