Have an Injury this Season? WakeMed and Wake Orthopaedics are Here for You

Injured knee, sprained ankle or possible broken bone? Where is the best place to get the care you need?

Sometimes it’s obvious when to head to the emergency room. At other times, it can be more difficult to tell. Together with WakeMed, Wake Orthopaedics brings dedicated orthopaedic urgent care to the community, serving children and adults, seven days a week (including after-hours and holidays) in multiple Wake County locations providing an affordable and efficient alternative to the ER for the most common orthopaedic injuries. We offer a seamless connection to WakeMed for any patient needing specialty care or further treatment.

The vast majority of orthopaedic injuries can be safely treated at an urgent care. As long as there aren't severe arm or leg deformities, excessing bleeding or life-threatening concerns, orthopaedic urgent care is the best option for treatment. The orthopaedic providers at Wake Orthopaedics are experienced in treating all parts of the body and sports-related injuries including:

  • Sprains & strains
  • Fractures
  • Ligament tears
  • Cast or splint issues
  • Cuts/lacerations
  • Painful, swollen joints
  • Pediatric injuries

If you think that your injury may be life-threatening ALWAYS choose the emergency department for care. The emergency department is a better choice for more severe orthopaedic injuries, and it offers better resources for treatment. For children with significant injuries, such as larger cuts, a broken bone through the skin, or angulation deformities of their arms and legs, the emergency room offers appropriate sedation and the most comfortable and stress-free treatment environment. Also, unlike urgent care locations, emergency departments are open 24/7 and feature the widest range of services and access to medical specialists.
